SED and teaming partners experience includes designing and implementing Community
Solar Programs for the cities of Roseville, Shasta Lake, Santa Clara, Glendale,
Anaheim, Redding, Palo Alto, Vallejo, and Lompoc.
Under various SMUD, PV Alliance, Community and Partnership programs, SED Team members
have:
- Performed site & solar evaluations and designs for new PV projects; assessed
the “solar readiness”, developed technical specifications, performed equipment procurement,
evaluated contractor proposals, inspected construction, supervised commissioning
and system O&M. Set standards for and evaluated (“vet”) PV contractors.
- Worked with City and utility staff (including inspectors), community members, PV
vendors, installers, architects, builders, and other stakeholders regarding the
planning and design of programs to provide or facilitate services for residents
and businesses for the purchase and installation of solar systems. Provided training
for building and utility inspectors.
- Developed public & technical information, goals, timelines lines, and milestones
for the design of customer-friendly, community solar programs.
- Performed local and statewide planning and facilitating meetings with City’s staff,
utilities, residents, businesses, and vendors, and designed and implemented outreach,
education, and marketing efforts community solar programs.
- Developed Data Acquisition Systems for performance monitoring including those with
community accessible internet capability for PV facilities.
- Provided technical information, cost estimates and appraisals of PV technology and
products.
- Experience identifying existing and new financial and environmental incentives to
encourage participation, identifying a long-term funding mechanism to manage and
fund an on-going community-wide PV buying program, and tracking rebate, discounts,
and new programs and conduct market trend analyses relevant to the community solar
programs.
- Demonstrated ability to develop a user-friendly website for community use for obtaining
information and assistance for purchase and installation of a PV system
- Designed and implemented innovative, user friendly, economical community-wide solar
buying programs that have demonstrated the ability to respond to the changing trends
in the solar marketplace, the regulations applying to solar installations, and the
financial incentives for the purchase of solar system systems.
- Served as Coordinator (Schwent) of Statewide PV Alliance and managed (Hoellwarth)
and advised (Parkins) the City of Roseville Electric Utility Business Advisory Group
for the development of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs for residential
and commercial buildings in Roseville.
- Developed and managed all aspects of SMUD Solar Program including PV Pioneers and
PV Builders Programs and the SMUD Energy Advantage Program,
- As the Roseville’s PV consultant of record, provide a full range of technical and
program support for Roseville’s BEST Home Program (Blueprint for Energy Efficiency
and Solar Technology), which aims to build 4,000 solar homes in ten years for 8
MW of solar power.
